GB Open Birmingham 3rd & 4th September

GB Open Birmingham. 19 Dokan students and 2 Kawuaso from our Association club in Ryhope. A 2 day competition and a WUKF ranking event. My 21 students won 21 gold, 14 silver and 12 bronze medals, and I am counting team and pairs medals as only one win. What a fabulous achievement and a fantastic outing for those that attended. When the lockdowns were ending a year or so ago and I got a large influx of new starters, I set out to forge a new junior super squad and I thank those parents for putting their trust in me.

I had an existing high grade squad but had lost all my existing mid range and low grade kids so it was like a fresh start. It is coming together now and as per usual my senior girls set the standard to inspire the new comers. Click on the pics for comments.

GB Open Medal table. A two day competition held in Birmingham. 64 clubs/ associations entered, 10 nations, and 1965 entries. Dokan second on the medal table is an achievement to by proud of. We may be a long way off the leaders but they nearly trebled our volume of entries so I am very pleased. Great work Dokan, great team spirit and effort and a fantastic competition, well organised and promoting karate in the best possible light.
