Dundee 13th November 2021
Another weekend full of memories after an eventful Kanzen international. We entered 19 students and for most it was a big test with their first major tournament since 2019. We won 32 medals in total including team events, there was no pairs kata and all our 9 gold were won in individual sections. 2 injuries in different age groups ruined some of our fighting and kata teams and the comp was the usual day of good and bad, highs and lows.
We withdrew from adult team kumite at 9.02pm. Having arrived at 8.00am the 13 hours was about as much as I could handle. The atmosphere within the stadium was great and the competitors from England and Scotland all very amiable. There were French, Romanian, Irish and Pakitani teams so the event was a good one to attend. The staff were helpful and apart from finishing far to late the whole day a good one. And tbf I was talking to a girl referee who drove from Plymouth Devon, 10 and a half hours to get there, now that truly is dedicated support. Click on pics for more info.
