37 clubs and 500 competitor entries crammed in to a small community centre with around 100 spectator seats does not sound like a recipe for a good day, but I have experienced worse days at competitions, far worse.
The standard of competitor was good and the sections busy enough to make each section worth winning. It was an up and down sort of day with some kids seeming to have all the luck while others had none.
A few refereeing concerns but basically just a nice local competition which attracted entries from all over the country and Scotland. It was well ran and finished on time.
A special mention goes to the Stoner family. Both Stoner sisters and their mum won individual gold medals. Talk about girl power and keeping it in the family...
We entered 36 students and won 18 gold medals, 18 silver medals and 23 bronze medals. I was really pleased with all of the squad as they conducted themselves fabulously throughout the day.
Our squad newcomers did great too, whether or not they won medals.
