British Open International
27/09/14 Filed in: Competitions | 2014
On a little buzz after a fantastic competition at Hull we decided to enter the British International at Glasgow. With only three weeks till the date it was a rush job, to get it all organised. We ended up with a squad of 17 students entering and, as always, Dokan's students entered both Kata and the Kumite events.
1,200 entries to get through in one day is no easy task but with nine areas running non-stop from 9.00 a.m. till 8.00 p.m. it was achieved well. No one was stressed or pushed for time; the day ran beautifully.
Dokan have even more international champions to add to their list from 2014. Newcomers to the title are Katie Hunnam, Olivia Fellows, Alex Steadman, Rebecca Bradburn and Thomas Chatterje. Other gold medal winners who already hold international titles were Eve Palmer and Lola Cassidy.
The club ended the day winning 10 gold medals, 3 silver and sixteen bronze medals. An impressive haul from 17 students.
I was proud of the attitude, etiquette and bravery of all our students as they all performed at their very best throughout the day. It was another great outing for the Dokan squad.
