The expression "keeping it in the family" took on a new meaning when Whitburn sisters Holly and Sadie Stoner took part at the Northern Open Classic in Cheshire on May 27th.
They were part of a twenty-eight strong Dokan karate club squad that travelled to Cheshire on the hottest day of the year and the Stoner sisters were pretty hot themselves as they beat their opposition to win a gold medal each.
In total Dokan won four gold, two silver and sixteen bronze medals.
The other gold medals were also a "family affair" as the winners were Anth Moon and his niece Chloe Million.
This is a high ranking competition which gets tougher and tougher every year so every trophy, irrespective of colour, was hard won and well deserved.
