Taisho-Do Annual Championships
04/11/12 Filed in: Competitions
On Sunday the 4th of November Dokan karate entered a large squad of 41 students into the Taisho-do karate tournament held at Stockton on Tees.
As this is a local competition with under 200 competitors it is a smaller affair than what Dokan are accustomed to but it is these smaller comps that encourage low grades to have a go at competing, so they are a very important part of running a successful karate club.
The standard on the day was good especially in kumite (freestyle fighting). Dokan had an enormously successful day winning a total of 79 trophy’s with 21 being first place awards - this works out at a mean average of 1.9 trophies for every Dokan entrant. All the students enjoyed the day, learned a lot and made some new friends.
